2008 BMIS and ABM Schedule

Dear 2008 Augustine Fellowship Members,

This message contains very important information concerning the upcoming Annual Business Meeting (ABM).  Please take a look at the message, and associated downloads, and take the information to your group or Intergroup.  If your area is represented by a Conference Delegate you will want to participate in discussions of the issues on the agenda of the ABM so that your voice can be part of our Fellowship-Wide group conscience.  Without your voice, how can Higher Power make his/her/their/its will known?  If your area is not represented by a Conference Delegate, you may want to step forward or encourage someone you know to take on that role.

There are two important documents you can download from this message.  The first is the revised Business Meeting Item Summary (BMIS) which lists the items that are currently on the agenda for discussion at the upcoming Annual Business Meeting (ABM).  There are a lot of additions since the last version, including drafts of three pieces of literature under consideration for Conference approval.  If you are a delegate, these are the issues that you will want to discuss with your Intergroup or groups in order to bring an informed group conscience to the ABM. The Board of Trustees will be sending you some additional background information regarding the first two items on the BMIS in a few days time.  Stay tuned.

The second downloadable document is the tentative schedule for the Annual Business Meeting.  We have added a little more time for breaks, and rearranged a few things from last year.  Hopefully this will make for happier delegates.  In the meantime, please note that there will be two presentations by the Board of Trustees, one on the FWS Budget and the other on the 12 Concepts for World Service.  The first is intended to give delegates an opportunity to have direct input into the Fiscal Year 2009 Budget, which will voted on by the Board in September.  The second is a chance to discuss how SLAA could adapt, and then adopt, the 12 Concepts, which are a vital set of principles that guide many other 12 Step organizations, but which SLAA has not yet adopted.

If you have any questions or comments regarding the BMIS or the ABM Schedule please let us know.  And please consider checking out the online delegates' forum.  You'll hear more about that soon.

Thank you for your service,

Sam M, Chair, Conference Charter Committee

Dan A, Chair, Board of Trustees
